Please ensure you read and understand the rules and disclaimers fully before attending any event!!

General Rules for attending The Grand Skate Tour events:

Skate at your own risk! Whilst the marshal team will do their best to keep everyone safe, you remain responsible for your own safety, and that of any minors you are accompanying at all times. Any harm to you, other attendees or the general public and their property is your responsibility.  The Grand Skate Tour does not accept any liability for injury, loss or damage to property. Appropriate protective gear, such as helmet, knee and elbow pads, wrist guards, bum pads is strongly recommended.

Skate within your abilities. Ability levels will be detailed on the activity listing in the schedule and during briefings at the events. If you are unsure if the particular activity is suited to your ability level, please ask a member of the team.

Consumption of alcohol/narcotic substances during any of our events is strictly forbidden. Any Skater visibly under the influence of alcohol/narcotics will be refused to take part in the skate.

Check your equipment (wheels and frames tightened) prior to the skate. Fasten your safety gear. Ensure your skates and safety equipment are in good working order.

Respect the marshals, attendees, the general public and property. Listen to the marshals' directions. Any abuse or disrespect will result in you being excluded from the activities (without refund if a paid activity) and further action may be taken. If you encounter any issues, report to a marshal.

At no time should you endanger yourself, other event attendees, the team or general public or any public or private property. Any dangerous or malicious behaviour may result in your exclusion from the event/ activity (without refund if a paid activity).

Attend the briefings. Every activity, route and location has different characteristics and even experienced skaters need to be aware of what to expect. It will a take few minutes, and it helps us build the vibe for the activity. Please join in! Be part of it all. Every route is checked before the skate by our team. Take this opportunity to identify the lead and rear marshals for your safety.

You must be a minimum age of 18 or be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

Filming and photography is an integral part of the activities and is permitted at "The Grand Skate Tour". You can be filmed whilst undertaking activities and the footage may be used for publicity, online media and social media channels. Please take your own shots when safe to do so and remember to tag us on social media.

Adverse weather. The Grand Skate Tour will not cancel any activity, except in extreme weather circumstances or other unforeseen event. Use your own judgement as to whether you partake given the conditions on the day.

Bring your best attitude and vibes. We love to skate! Let's roll together.

Roller Disco Rules:

In addition to the General Rules above...

  • Only skate in the direction of the group, never against. Change direction when directed by the marshal team.

  • Keep to the outer ring. Do not cut the corners. Less experienced skaters towards the middle of the ring (inside lane), more experienced to the outside of the ring.

  • The centre of of the space is for practicing skills and jamming in a small area.

  • No food or drinks in the skating area. Report any spillages, debris or foreign obstacles to the marshals.

  • Keep personal belongings to the sides or the hall/ area.

  • The organisers accept no liability for losses to personal belongings.

  • Listen to the directions of the marshal team at all times.

Street Skate Route Rules:

In addition to the General Rules above...

Additional Safety Measures for Street Skating:

Appropriate protective equipment is strongly recommended. Running lights (or similar) for night skating are strongly recommended.

Skate within your abilities. Whilst some of our planned activities and events cater for some beginner abilities:

  • Advanced Street Skate: Strictly for advanced level only. You should be able to stop, turn, go up and down curbs, engage reasonable slopes and hills, control your speed and keep an average pace of 8-10mph for 10-15 miles. You must finish the skate unaided. Steeper hills will have an option for an alternative safer descent in case you do not feel confident. We will do our best to brief you on the expected intricacies of the route. Do not engage in aspects beyond your own abilities. If you are unsure, speak to a member of the marshal team. There will be two stops along the route for refreshments and a rest (plus a few quick photo stops on the way). We will be skating in the road for the majority. Pavements should only be used when directed by the marshal team in order to not put pedestrians at risk. We will adhere to the highway code wherever possible.

  • Beginner/ Intermediate Street Skates: For all abilities, however, you must be able to control your speed, stop, turn and go up and down a few curbs safely, as well as manage a few rougher surfaces. Some small slopes may be required and we will assist you if needed. The skate will be at the pace of the slowest skater, but you should be able to maintain a steady speed of 5mph. Routes are short (1 to 5 miles) and kept to safe spaces where possible. There may be some skating on highways. Marshals will manage traffic to ensure safety as best they are able. Should you struggle within the first mile or so, we may suggest that you drop-out. We will help you back to the start if we are able. The Grand Skate Tour marshals will do their best to ensure you enjoy the activity and complete it safely, however you are ultimately responsible for your own safety and that of others. Should you feel unsure of your ability, please consult a member of the team. Best practice is to join one our our venue sessions before attempting a street skate route for the first time, where you can gauge your level against others and gain advice from the team.

Keep behind the lead marshal. This is to keep everyone in a single group and avoid traffic dangers and enable marshals to keep the group safe. Overtaking the lead marshal is strictly forbidden and will result in your exclusion. You will notice the cam crew and runner/ blocker marshals going ahead of the lead. Ensure you identify the lead marshal (orange high-viz vest) and remain behind them at all times. Do not follow the runners as this will put you and others in danger.

Stay in front of the rear marshals. They are responsible for keeping the group together as one. If you fail to keep up with the rear marshal you will be asked to drop out. This is for the safety of you and all the participants. We will try to identify if we think you will struggle within the first few miles so you are close to the start point to return. Please do not take it personally, but keep practising and come back when you are ready.

Allow marshals to pass. Runner marshals will be stopping to block traffic at junctions, then need to get back to the front to block the next junction. ALWAYS KEEP LEFT and leave space for them to pass on your right. When on the road, stay left of the white lines and leave space within that lane for runner marshals to pass. Always be aware of your surroundings, traffic, pedestrians and other potential hazards.

Attend the briefing before the skate. This is mandatory. Registration may be required. Those not registered or those who do not attend the safety briefing may not be eligible to take part. Every route and location has different characteristics and even experienced skaters need to be aware of what to expect. It will a take few minutes, and it helps us build the vibe for the skate. Please join in! Be part of it all. Every route is checked before the skate by our team. Take this opportunity to identify the lead and rear marshals for your safety.

Disclaimer: Roller and Inline Skating activities carry an increased risk of personal injury. By attending the events, you accept that you have understood these risks and remain responsible for you own safety and that of others around you. This includes risk of injury to yourself, other event attendees or the general public as well as damage to public or private property. The Grand Skate Tour accepts no responsibility for any liability. The team will do their best to support and encourage you to achieve and progress in your skating journey. Their advice and assistance is not to be deemed as professional coaching, nor should you push beyond your personal limits at any time. If in doubt, please ask and the team will do their best to assist you.
